The new Badlands Upland Bird Vest carries better than 90% of the packs on the market. It's still as light as a standard vest and offers the versatility of ump-teen pockets for "the most effective layout ever." While the Badlands Upland Vest does not come with a water bladder, it offers full hydration capabilities - just add your own. It has a fully breathable internal lining, a welded waterproof rear compartment, and the easiest bird access ever developed. The Badlands Upland vest is very hard to call it just one name, when it does the task of so many. One size fits most.

I've tried a variety of vests/packs/jackets and never found on that I liked but I love the Badlands Upland Vest. It's very comfortable and can carry a solid load. It doesn't interfere with mounting the gun and despite my ability to constantly wreck gear, it has held up beautifully.
I had 2 modifications made to it immediately. I had the shell loops restitched so they securely hold 20 ga shells and I had a strap sewed across the left shoulder strap and an elastic loop sewed around it so I can clip my e-collar transmitter on the strap and the elastic holds it in place. It has worked brilliantly.

I love the Badlands Upland Bird Vest but 2 major issues. Shell loops are no good. I added plastic ones to the waste belt. I also cut off all the mesh pockets because they snag on every fence and brier. Overall quality and comfort is good.

Rating: 4 out of 5 as ordered.
My Badlands upland vest is now in the second year of use. After the initial use I made some modifications in ensuing field trips even though I new it would void the warranty.
1st - I lengthened the shoulder straps making them adjustable as I am 6’4 and the vest only came half way on my ribcage not my hips.
2nd - I added black elastic pocket over 4 of the 5 shell loops because the elastic loops were are to large even for 12 gauge shells. The front one on each side I left the same and use them when I unload between fields.
3rd - I cut a slit in the left front strap for the transmitter antenna and added a quick release clip to the bottom to hold it in.
4th - I constructed a leather shot gun butt holder and attached it to the right lower strap adjustment for those long walks in the field. It keeps the barrel pointed up and in easy reach on a flush plus more comfortable to carry.
5th - I added a clips to hold the Badlands hydration reservoir in place so there is plenty of water for me and the dog.
Now it’s the rating is 5 out of 5.
It has lots of pockets for plastic bags, game license, lip balm, bird knife, shooting glasses, gloves, dog treats, tweezers to remove sand burrs/goat heads, TP, and ibuprofen not to mention the large bird bag slides back for easy entry from either side easily holds the daily limit.
With a few mods this vest pack comes highly recommended
